Under TxDMV rules, a dealer needs a valid GDN for each location from which it does business, so moving has licensing consequences.
Moving vs. adding a location
Relocating replaces your current location. Adding a location generally means a separate GDN for the new site.
Plan the move
- Check the new property against premises requirements.
- Confirm local zoning.
- Make sure the new lease term works.
- Prepare your sign for the new location.
- Update your license with TxDMV following its current amendment process.
- Update your bond and business records as needed.
